Health centre (Vårdcentral)

If you are ill, injured or are not feeling very well mentally, you should first contact a health centre. Staff at the centre can help you to stay fit and well and support you in your effort to lead a healthier life.

A health centre can provide help with a range of conditions, including:

  • Infections (such as a persistent cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat or bladder infection)
  • Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • High blood pressure and cardiovascular disorders
  • Skin problems and wounds
  • Mental ill-health
  • Allergies
  • Diabetes
  • Memory loss or dementia
  • Gynaecological problems
  • Vaccinations

Each health centre has an expert team of doctors, district nurses, assistant nurses, rehabilitation coordinators, and staff who work with mental health.

All health centres have their own websites.
